Hi,

recently I have discovered a bug in Alexa Mini SUP 5.4.13. When I loaded an internal LDA ARRI Master Macro 100mm, the WCU-4 instantly lost connection with the camera and all camera buttons stopped working including REC button. I thought it was an issue with the particular camera, so we switched the body to another one, but same thing happened. So I'm assuming that the problem affects all Alexa Mini cameras with this SUP.

So please ARRI Tech guys, take a look on that.

Hmm too bad. Log files are generally helpful to understand whole the scope of what happened.
Anyhow, In your case we were able to recreate the issue.
We already posted it to our bug-tracker.

Thank a lot,
Jan

This may or may not the the same root problem.
I experienced this in June earlier this year on my WCU-4, cForce RF motor and the Master Macro 100mm LDA file.

(Copy and pasted from my Facebook post on the ARRI ECS group)

—————

Hi all!

Disclaimer : This is a PSA about my recent experience with a specific LDA file and the my CForce RF Motor. Please do not to take this as a generalization across all files and RF motors.

On Friday during a camera prep, I attached my CForce RF motor to a RED Helium camera via the CAM to SYNC/DTAP cable.

I had a large selection of lenses, but luckily I have the anamorphic lenses prep-mapped. I tested each mapping via the usual ‘Lens File Transfer’ option on the WCU-4. Everything worked flawlessly.

I then mounted a 100mm Master Macro. I know that Arri has stock LDA files on the ‘Lens Table Marketplace’ on the website.
I previously took the time to download every permutation of every lens Arri had made available, and organized them on my SD card for easy access. (IE. 40mm UP: D, E, F, G etc etc).
At this point in time, I selected the Arri generated ‘N’ Master Macro LDA file, and sent it to the RF motor. The WCU4 instantly lost connection to the motor, the motor OLED display went fuzzy like static. No response at all. Felt like the LDA file corrupted the motor.

I then attempted to plug the motor via LBUS to an Alexa Mini, nothing.
I even tried connecting the RF motor to the WCU-4 direct via LCS to LBUS cable, nothing.

Contacted Arri Toronto and the motor is with them for service now. No news yet.

I hope this does not happen to any RF owners...

TLDR: DO NOT use the ‘ARI_MM_100_0_N’ LDA file for the 100mm Master Macro NN ring; found on the Arri Marketplace with your WCU-4 and RF Motor.

Hi JacksonYeung and all,

we have tried to reproduce the problem, but so far with no results as described here.

JacksonYeung: There is a (pretty small) chance the camera still has this documented in the internal logfiles. Maybe you can send all logfiles (zipped) from it to us (digitalworkflow[@]arri.de) and we can have a look.

All: If this happens with you, please export the logfiles, zip them all and email to the above address.

Thanks in advance,
Andreas Berkl
