Hello all,

We are happy to inform you about the availability of a Beta version of ALEXA Mini LF SUP 7.0 with many new and exciting features.

One of the most asked for additions to the Mini LF are the new Super 35 recording formats. With these new formats, the Mini LF is now more flexible than ever and becomes the large-format and Super 35 workhorse for any kind of production.

At the same time, we are expanding the cameras’ features for the immensely popular large format. Two new large format recording formats deliver the large format look with a significantly reduced data rate (HD or UHD recording). Many additional features are based on customer requests and greatly improve the overall usability of the camera.

Please visit the ALEXA Mini LF SUP 7.0 Beta download page to register for the beta test and to find the Release Notes for all the technical information.

Thanks for the work on SUP 7.0. Lots of great new additions.

Can i ask are there plans for the 4.3K LF 16:9 UHD mode to be available in ARRIRAW? This is such a useful new recording format and probably the one i'll most use but it's ProRes only? In addition, will it be possible to get 50fps rather than 48fps in this mode in ProRes or ARRIRAW if available? Large format 50fps is something a lot of users have been hoping for here in Europe, just 2 more frames and we're golden!

Wonderful! This is a feature packed beta.

Just wanted to put out there that we successfully upgraded to the beta, however are unable to downgrade back to SUP 6.0.22 despite the release notes saying it is possible.

We are getting an error that says that the "SUP update key is missing. (#161)"

I sent off an email to the support/feedback email along with a bug report.

I just updated my mini LF to V7.0Beta and I am also having the issue of not being able to downgrade to V6.0.21 that is still on the USB drive - it is giving me the same "Sup update key is Missing #161)
hopefully we can resolve this easily incase there is a need to go back to an earlier SUP

Dear friends of ARRI!

We are terribly sorry, but we forgot to mention in the Release Notes that you will need the license file for SUP 7.0.0 "mini_lf_fw_update_aes_7.0.0.lic" to be present in folder "ARRI/A-MINI-LF/LICENSES" if you want to downgrade to SUP 6.

If not present, you will get the message as described by you and mattrodgersdp:
KeyMissingS.JPG
And I have to agree it is (not even to me) obvious, why you need a license from the installed version to downgrade.

Sorry again for the trouble, should not have happend!

This update is such great news - can't wait for non-beta release. But I have one question, I see that with all the S35 modes, the Mini LF can now do equal or greater FPS than the Mini could...except for the S35 HD 16:9 (1920x1080) mode, which the release notes state are limited to 100 FPS, half of the older Mini max FPS. I wanted to just ask what the reason behind this is? I was hoping for 120fps at S35 HD at least. As the other modes the Mini LF can outpace at equivalent resolution the older Mini, as it has newer faster electronics.

Otherwise, thanks so much for a great update!

Andreas,
Thanks for the clarification on this for downgrading to sup6, I am going to try your method out however I do believe I already had sup7 license file on the camera at the time of trying to downgrade, let me try again and I'll let you know

Thanks
Matt R.

Hi mattrodgersdp,

SUP 6.0.21 is outdated, this might be the reason. If, for whatever reason, you would like to go back to 6.0.21, try SUP 7.0.0 > SUP 6.0.22 > SUP 6.0.21. But I would highly recommend to go back to SUP 6.0.22.

If this does not help, please get in touch with us using the ALEXA Mini LF Beta Bug Report.pdf from the download loaction you got the Beta from.

Best regards, Andreas
