Just curious if anyone had any thoughts on this.

I have the choice to either shoot 2.8k Arriraw on an Alexa (not open gate, but could shoot 4:3) OR 3.2k Prores 4444 or XQ on an Amira. It's a green screen shoot.

Do you think the gains over shooting RAW at a lower resolution will be better for the key than shooting PRORES at a slightly higher resolution/sensor size...

My gut tells me Arriraw is the way to go and the difference in resolution will not be too huge, but maybe I am wrong!

Would love to know anyone else's thoughts on this.

Hi,
first of all, sorry for the late reply! In general we recommend shooting ARRIRAW for greenscreen. Although ProRes gives you good results with greenscreen, the ability to work with all parameters in ARRIRAW in postproduction gives you more flexibility. With SXT we offer an Open Gate ProRes format, so there’s no immediate resolution advantage on the ARRIRAW side (besides its possibility for tweaking debayer options).
If you decide to shoot ProRes, we strongly recommend one of the less compressed formats like 4444 or even better 4444 XQ.

Best regards,
Fred
