I just switched over to Arri from RED. I haven't had an EVF for a very long time, and the last one I had was a SmallHD with a diopter which was very susceptive to damage from the sun if pointed at it on accident. I am curious if this EVF is similar? I have searched around but haven't found an answer anywhere. I am going to continue to follow the practice of pointing the EVF down when not using it, but I was curious how "fragile" they actually are.
Thanks!
EVF sun damage possible?

Dear Ian,
I inquired with our camera service department at the Munich HQ. Without digging in the system they are not aware of a sunburn defect with EVF-1/2 or MVF-1.
So eighter we're looking at a commendable act of care taking of the EVFs (as it used to be mandatory with film cameras before anyhow) or it is unlikely to happen.
Cheers,
Jan
