Hi everyone,

I´ve experienced in several jobs a render malfunction with the following configuration:

- MacPro (late 2013) with D700 graphic cards.
- DaVinci Resolve 12.5
- Arriraw (.ari and .mxf) recorded on Alexa XT and Alexa Mini respectively.

I´ve asked everyone I thought could give me a proper explanation, but instead, I´ve only herd rather superstitious answers / solutions:
High temperature issues (One of the films where the glitches appeared was set on a snowy enviroment).
Limit the render speed with a 50fps treshold (still appeared even setting the treshold on 25fps).
...

The only common denominator was that all the computers were these glitches appeared were equiped with D700 graphic cards.

Anyone out there has any info about this problem, could confirm that´s a malfunction of the D700 cards, or have any tip to avoid them?

I leave some examples of two different productions:

I´ll appreciate any insight on this topic! Thanks a lot!

Daniel.

Dear Daniel,

we are aware of that problem, it is caused by a combination of head management/design of the Mac Pro.
Here's what you can do:
- install Fan Control, lower the level for the fans to kick in
- find a film bobby to "rise the Mac"

That's what works for us, we've heard of other users laying the MacPro flat; so what ever works to improve ventilation.

Jan

Thanks a lot, Jan!

I´ll try Control Fan as soon as I have a new gig with the MacPro.
