Hi,

we just purchased an Alexa XT, fw: 11.1.x

Under Menu > System > Sensor Mode > I see 16:9 and 4:3 options, but no Open Gate option.

Do we need to send the camera to Arri to enable Open Gate ? And if so, what is the estimated charge for that service ?

Note: I did NOT have a codex drive in the XR module while checking the cam... could it be the Open Gate option is only available when a codex drive is inserted ?

Hi Pete,
with ALEXA XT cameras you can only record Open Gate in ARRIRAW. Any chance that you maybe set ProRes as the recording codec?
If the Open Gate still does not show up in ARRIRAW, is it really an ALEXA XT or an ALEXA XR? ALEXA XR cameras do not offer the Open Gate sensor mode natively but can be upgraded in ARRI Service.

You can contact service@arri.de to schedule an appointment and to get the price for that service. Please let them know the serial number of that camera right away so they can take a look which exact model of camera you have.
