Hey!

I'm looking at buying a vintage Angeniux 25-250 lens. (Not the newer Optimo version, but the 70s one) I think it either has an Arri S or B mount. My question is will these mounts stick into the Amira and interfere with the internal NDs?

Hi paulsimmons,

if the lens is not fitted with a matching lens mount, you will need some kind of adapter "x to PL". So you should check with the manufacturer of the adapter.

Information about intrusion depth can be found in our user manuals, here from ALEXA Mini.

Many older Angenieux and cooke zoom Lenses have the "universal mount" intermediate thread, so you can actually exchange its current mount with PL, with no need for an adaptor. Makes the lens sit rock solid on the camera. This is preferable to a ARRI S or B mount to PL adaptor. As long as the lens is made for N35 or S35 it is made to clear the 35mm mirror shutter, so will normally also clear the Sensor cover glass (in front of the ND pack)

Duclos Lenses makes a Universal mount to X https://www.ducloslenses.com/collection ... unt-flange
We have it on many of our old zooms works great.

Pair it with https://www.armacine.com/the-orbital and you can use the lens with a clip on if the front rotates.

There is just something about these old zooms, not fast nor sharp, and breathes a lot, but there is something organic that fits certain stories. Our old angenieux 25-250mm T3.9 was the main zoom on this show, "pimped" with with the Orbital, the duclos PL mount and 3D printed M0.8 Threads. Primes were our TLS Canon K35s. Camera was Alexa mini LF

Looks pretty good

Sorry for the slow response. I thought I had email notifications selected and I didn't see your responses.

I'm still on the hunt for a used Angenieux 25-250. I'll let you know as soon as I find one!
