CODEX has finally released Codex Device Manager 7.0.1 with native HDE support for Alexa 35.
It works as always with live encoding during offload using the CODEX VFS system, but the format is now retained as a .MXF container:

Note that HDE encoding is now enabled by default. Care should be taken to always use proper backup software.

I would like to comment on "Note that HDE encoding is now enabled by default".
When the HDE option is active, you still can copy uncompressed ARRIRAW from a CODEX drive.
macOS will mount two volumes, e.g.
A_0001_12NR and
A_0001_12NR_hde
so you just have to pick which one you need.

do you still have to pay for a license even with Alexa 35?

No HDE license is required for ARRI cameras with codex recording media.

The compression is applied at offload so the license is activated when mounting a card on a codex card reader.

The optional license you pay for is only required for the cFast based cameras, where you mount cards on a third party reader.
