Will the SAM-8 continue to function with the GPI Pro Steadicam? As opposed to the SAM-7 plate, I would choose one with longer sides and numerals.

Dear Elian,

I talked to Sean to give you a premium answer:

The SAM-7 and SAM-8 are the same width, so can be used interchangeably. However, the SAM-7 includes the grooves for the safety stop mechanism on the GPi PRO and ARRI artemis Gen.1, where as the SAM-8 does not, it includes the safety pins for the Tiffen mechanism instead.

So eighter roll with safety or roll with numerals.
