Whitebalance and Tint Math

Hi,

I am interested if anybody can tell me how the math for the WBFactor and TintCC values works?

I have EXRs with metadata and I would like to know how I can precisely shift the whitebalance and tint if I wanted to match values to a different image and its values.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

I'm not sure if I got you 100% right, but as far as I understand you would like to match for instance a OpenEXR Scene Linear / ACES AP0 file to the same shot (ARRIRAW, but different WB e.g. 4300K).
You can achieve this using a LINEAR Red, Green or Blue Gain on the Scene Linear image e.g. to get from 5600K to 4300K I got a match reducing R and G and increasing B in color grading.
I hope this is helpful somehow.

Hi Simon,

I am more after the math for wbFactor and TintCc as those are corrections made on the camera. Or is wbfactor just a triplet representing the wbBalance? I saw our Dop matching light colors by moving those two values around on the camera...

Thank you,

M
