Arri Hi-5 Jumping to Europe Region

Hello,
I came across an issue this week when using the same Hi-5 with a Alexa 35 and Raptor X. The Alexa 35 was using the internal radio set to channel 0, and the Raptor X was using the CForce RF motor set to channel 1, or 2. The Hi-5 has the Red cam license and it’s running SUP 3.0.3.

When using the Alexa 35 we had no issue with camera control, but once we hopped to the channel the CForce RF motor was set to the Hi-5 oddly jumped from USA region to Europe region. The Hi-5 has the white radio 2.4 ghz and the c force RF has the same white label antenna.

The issue is the region becomes greyed out and we can’t switch back to USA, and all camera control goes away. This CForce RF motor has been able to successfully control the red ecosystem with the cam to ctrl and power cable previous to this.

Is there something that I can do to troubleshoot the CForce RF motor/Hi-5 to ensure it doesn’t jump regions and disable camera control when switching between two systems? Thanks!

Hi Kenny,

the radio region setting is always handled by the host (motorcontroller) unit and the handunits (Client) can only show which region is currently set.
To change the region setting of a cforce mini RF, you need to press and hold the lower button for 6 seconds until the current region is displayed.
Now press the lower button multiple times until your desired region is displayed.

Or as an alternative, you can initiate a factory reset. To do this press and hold both buttons for 6 seconds until "factory reset executed" is displayed.
(Factory settings = Axis: Focus, Active Radio Channel: 0, region: EU)

Additional Details for RED license support:
When using the V-Raptor or Komodo, you must set the baud rate to 460800. (We also recommend: Menu>System settings>GPO Function > Sync Out <)
On a Raptor XL you have the required CTRL 4pin port, so there our cable works nicely, but V-Raptor-VV and Komodo only has an 9pin EXT port and relies on an adapter.

Our Hi-5 Red license has been tested with these cameras and they work fine with the official RED adapters. (https://www.red.com/komodo-expander-module)
Note, some third-party adapter may not be supported, since they seem to have problems with the increased baud-rate.

all the best, Daniel
