We're happy to announce the beta test of our new ARRI Frame Line Composer 4.1
Version 4.1 (AFLC-4) contains two main features and some bug-fixes:
- Sensor area dimension is calculated in mm or inch for width and height depending on the recording format.
- Export of Frameleader graphic as .svg file (scalable vector graphic) for print out as frame line reference template.
We'd like to get your feedback on this new version. So post below or within a new topic in the Workflow forum.
For a sneak peek at the new AFLC, follow this link:

Best,
Jan

Hello Jan,
I have been using the Frameline composer and I've had a couple of issues. Before updating to SUP 5.2 I had no problem adding my frameline xml files to the camera via the USB, now the camera won't add them. It sees them but they are greyed out and won't load. It doesn't seem to be related to frameline as I tried to load previously generated framelines and they don't load either, so it appears to be a 5.2 build issue. Do you know of this problem? Thanks. JT

Dear Jeff,
did you mind the sensor mode when creating the frame lines?
Feel free to send us your framelines for further examination to
digitalworkflow@arri.de.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Jan,
It's James btw - (not Jeff)
I'm not sure what you meant by "mind the sensor mode". I want the sensor mode to be Open Gate, so that's what I set it to. Again, I haven't had a problem with this before the 5.2 update.

Hi James,
regarding "Sensor Mode": If you want i.e. to create a frame line for ALEXA Mini, Recording Mode "ARRIRAW", Resolution "Open Gate", it would look like
this in the AFLC.
So it is not only the
"Sensor Mode" in AFLC, but also the settings under
"ADVANCED PIXEL CALCULATION" for
"Format" and
"Resolution" that need to match your camera's settings.
Slightly complicated I must admit, but with all the different formats our cameras support by today, it become a bit of a jungle...
If you have further problems, please send the frame line files you have trouble with to
digitalworkflow@arri.de and we will have a look on them.
Best regards,
Andreas Berkl
P.S. Jeff, would you mind if I call you James? Sorry, too much Monty Python around here these days...
