ARRI Alexa Mini 2

A friend of mine was interested in buying an Alexa Mini so he asked me about it because i own one. I told him it was totally worth the investment. But then he started to ask around some DoPs here in Indonesia and they told him to wait because ARRI is going to release an Alexa Mini 2 soon/in the near future. I find this hard to believe but I wanted to ask anyway...is there any truth to this at all?

generally speaking: we do not disclose what might be in the pipeline or when it is due for release. Not here in the forum not in talks with customers.
As does e.g. Apple. Nobody would have bet on a refreshment of the MacPro last week. But here it is: price drops and a new commitment for a new "pro"-tool. That's the beauty of it.
ALEXA Mini will get its new SUP 5.0 in the coming months and we're not done with the features.

Regarding a potential price drop, would those who have recently purchased their Alexa Mini (I bought mine last month), be eligible for a rebate of the difference in the price to compensate for the loss in investment etc?

Dear Matt,
there's a say in German, "Lasst uns nicht über ungelegte Eier reden"; the literal translation would be "Let's not talk about un-laid eggs". Similar to "Don't cross your bridges before you come to them".

Hi,
all I can say is that there is no foreseeable plan to replace or upgrade the Mini. The Mini is a business that works extremely well for us and doesn't need an adjustment at the moment.
As long as we are getting the positive feedback and have many happy customers there is no need to replace it. Also we do care about the safety of your investment and will consider cameras sold into the market when we introduce new products (unlike other manufacturers)
