Immediately after updating my Amira to SUP 5.2, two Cfast cards I've been using for over a year are unrecognizable by the camera. I tried reformatting them using Mac Terminal with no luck. The are both Sandisk 120GB cards. Anyone else have this problem?

The error message I get reads: "-Type of medium in slot A is not supported."

In addition, one of the cards get an error message that reads: "-Recording medium in slot A is too hot, write rate decreased."

Hello Kirk,
as replied via email, you somehow got a hold of a card version, that actually never was supported in our cameras. This is now caught by an updated filtering mechanism in SUP 5.2. I have contacted SanDisk and they will get in touch with you to get the cards replaced.
Kind regards
Oliver

SUP 5.0 (5.0.26) does not support the larger sandisk cards. Support for the 256 Sandisk cards was added in SUP 5.2 (5.2.17). You seem have to misread the version number. If you go to https://www.arri.com/camera/amira/downloads/ you can download the current firmware 5.2 which supports those cards.

I am having the same issue: My CFast cards have the older FW and won't work with the latest SUP (5.2).
If anyone has the contact info for someone at Sandisk who can help with an exchange for updated cards, please forward that info to me. Greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jonathan

I don't have a specific contact at Sandisk, but was able to request a replacement online on their website. Look under the "support" tab.

Sorry to revive an old thread.
I finally did the update last week and discovered one of my cards will give me the very same error message.
Was there ever any resolution to this?
Cheers,
Harry
* I wanted to post this last week but have not been on the board in awhile, I suspect some of the older accounts were deactivated. I only just got "approval" by the "administrator".

Hello Kirk,
Same problem. Running SUP 5.0.26. Sandisk 128gb cards work properly but Sandisk 256gb card reads as "Unsupported Media".

Hi there... I just wanted to post a follow up.
Arriflex requires a certain threshold of continuous write speed from these cards (I think we all knew that already) so cfast cards meant for use in our cameras are built and tested to a certain spec.
It seems as if somehow a batch of "lesser" rated cards got mixed in early shipments of the Amira, and while they may work fine, performance can also be erratic. The SUP I installed now "filters" them out. One of my cards seems to be from this batch.
Oliver was kind enough to connect me directly with a supervisor at Sandisk, and I'm currently awaiting a new card.
If you post here, Oliver and Guenter do read and pay attention. They have been pretty active offline getting this resolved for me.
Cheers,
Harry

Please update to the latest SUP. https://www.arri.com/en/technical-servi ... p-overview
Next, please check if the media you are trying to use are actually supported. There are two custom ARRI versions of CFast cards running on special firmware. Their retail counterparts unfortunately are not supported. You can find a list here: https://www.arri.com/en/camera-systems/ ... -2-0-cards

Please insert the card into the camera, then export the camera log file to a USB drive from the INFO screen.blakeadam wrote: Sat May 14, 2022 3:48 pm I finally did the update last week and discovered one of my cards will give me the very same error message.

Send the log file to your ARRI service center or just service@arri.de and ask them why the card is marked invalid, if it really is a supported model.
