We are proud (very!) that we are releasing SUP 4.0 for ALEXA Mini today.
I am sure there are many questions to be answered and this topic is here to get you answers and listen to your feedback.
Before you start, please check the following 2 points:
- PLEASE read the Release Notes! It contains a lot of valuable information already and may answer your questions!
- Be aware that MXF/ARRIRAW recorded by the ALEXA Mini requires UPDATED post production tools to process the data! This is due to the sensor revision of the ALEV III which has a different packing. The new version of the ARRIRAW converter is able to process MXF/ARRIRAW generated by ALEXA Mini. All post manufacturers have received an new ARRIRAW SDK from us and are working on updated versions of their tools. If you have issues or questions please contact digitalworkflow@arri.de or post a question here.
I hope you do enjoy SUP 4.0!
Best,

SUP 4.0 Release Q&A

Unfortunately we have discovered a critical bug in SUP 4.0.15. The bug is already fixed and we are going to release a bugfix release next week.
When using a lens file that features both metric and imperial focus scales (like all default lens file shipped with SUP 4.0), changing the focus unit to imperial in the lens info screen of the camera software will NOT change the focus unit displayed on the WCU-4. Instead, the WCU-4 will continue to display the metric focus scale. An updated SUP that fixes this issue is currently in testing and will be released in the course of next week.
As a workaround, please create a new lens file using the WCU-4, updated to the latest software version (>= 2.22.22). Make sure to select IMPERIAL focus unit and save the lens table to an SD card. Copy the lens file from the folder /ARRI/ALEXA/LDA on the SD card to the folder /ARRI/A-MINI/LDA on a USB stick. Import this file into the ALEXA Mini's LDA and activate it. With such a custom lens file, you will still be able to switch the focus unit in the camera, but the WCU-4 will now only show the imperial scale.
Best,
Michael Jonas

There is a little mistake in case of the WCU-4 software version.

Unfortunately - again - we found an other bug in SUP 4.0.15. It drastically influences the image quality in "2.39:1 2K Ana." ProRes mode. Due to this bug the internal downscale and de-squeeze algorithms do not work as expected and tested beforehand, so that the image quality does not at all meet our quality standards.
Please do not use this mode for recording!
If you need to use the 2.39:1 mode, we ask you to plan for an intermediate step until we've forged a new SUP: Shoot in 2.39:1 Ana. MXF/ARRIRAW mode and use the ARRIRAW Converter to generate ProRes Clips in post.

Hi,
I did the SUP 4.0 Update to the Alexa Mini.
when the update finish the camera reboot and start on, but the EVF doesn't give visual feed back. The Camera on can Record and send image to the Starlite Monitor by SDI signal.
The View finder only has the screen on but there nothing to show and i can't manage de setting or do anything.
How can i put it back to the 3.1 or fix this problem because with out view finder setting i can't do anything.
Thank you.

Dear Claudio,
sounds like a faulty EVF cable, perhaps check the connectors to ensure connectivity and recommit the update.
Or simply give our colleagues at ARRI Service a call, the will be able to do mire in-depth error tracking:

Does the critical bug affecting 2.39 2K anamorphic mode image quality also affect the new HD Ana (16:9) mode?
