If your footage is ARRIRAW footage then you can debayer also from legacy cameras into the new REVEAL (LogC4/AWG4) color space and use all the advantages of our new color science incl. more accurate colors and better color reproduction. There already are various of tools available, that have included our ARRI Image SDK (Version 7.1 and later) , which has included that functionality. Of course you will not get the same dynamic range of the older ALEV III cameras compared to the new ALEV IV in the ALEXA 35, but it's possible to use the better and newer debayer algorithm also for older ARRIRAW.

Can you shoot LogC4 in camera with Alexa Mini and Mini LF?

Hi kokorecci,
ALEXA 35 is up to now the only camera the natively shoots LogC4 anduses the REVEAL Color pipeline internally. But footage shot in ARRIRAW from aLL ALEXA/AMIRA cameras can be "de-bayered to Logc4".
That is what Simon wrote.

Hi Jan,

There is a possibility that this can be done internally at the mini LF in the future?

Thnx,

Dear Marco,

we'll forward your "+1" to product management, but I cannot make any promises.

Kind regards,

It would be great if we could get LogC4 into the older cameras for Prores recording. For any multicam work where we're having to mix the two generation of sensor, it's going to make everyone's life a lot easier.
