Hi,
I don't have the 4:3 license and haven't used it yet for filming on the Mini.
My question: is it possible to just record the full sensor size (or 4:3) with spherical lenses and not apply any sort of desqueeze so I just end up with a 4:3 image (2880 x 2160)? With spherical lenses, what sort of crop factor (decrease) are we looking at?
I have clients who want to shoot 1x1 (which I hate) and what we have done before is crop off the left and right of a 16x9 frame. I'm hoping to get a wider field of view by using 4x3 and only having to chop off a little bit to get to 1x1.
The answer seems clear that it works on Arri's page but I want to be 100% sure my thinking makes sense and all this is possible before paying for an expensive license.
"ProRes 4:3 2.8K records the full 4:3 sensor area (2880 x 2160) and can be used with anamorphic or spherical lenses. It offers frame rates up to 50 fps and an optional 2x anamorphic de-squeeze for the EVF and SDI monitoring paths."
Thanks!

Hello,
without a ARRIRAW and with a 4by3 license, yes 4:3 2.8K is the biggest you can get.
That is a size of 23.76mm x 17.82mm. Super35 is 24.89mm x 18.66mm.
And for comparison: ARRIRAW OG on ALEXA Mini is 28.25mm x 18.17mm.
Best regards,
Jan
